Commemorating one of the first women's political protests in the United States, on October 25, 1774, 51 ladies in Edenton, led by Penelope Barker, signed the "Edenton Resolve" to boycott the Tea Act passed by the British Parliament in 1773 and in defiance of taxation without representation.
