Most glass factories re-melt their mistakes and reject for reuse in future production. This is economical and responsible stewardship of materials. The consistent green tint is a by-product of the many shades of glass recycled. The tall glass affords a generous drink of water (or some more stimulating beverage). The shorter glass is great for mixed drinks or morning juice, but it also makes for a classic hefty table wine glass, the kind you would find in the European countryside cafe.
